Introduction

In The Fourth Pyramid Belongs to Her, I accentuate the absence of collective mourning for the ancient Egyptians by portraying my grandmother as one of the pharaohs. The book combines a series of her collaged portraits and photographs of the interior of her house and of museums that house Egyptian mummies. Through the juxtapositions, I project my grief for my grandmother onto the ancient Egyptians, proposing, in turn, seeing them through the eyes of a girl mourning her grandmother.
